Dr. Upton has proudly offered orthodontic care in a friendly, relaxing environment for more than 20 years, and has been practicing along the Black Warrior River since 2005.
He believes that orthodontics is more than just straightening teeth. It’s also transformed lives, increased self-esteem, and improved confidence.
P. Mike Upton, DMD, MS
Education
Dr. Upton began his education at Jones County Junior College and continued on to the University of Southern Mississippi, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science.
He then attended the University of Alabama School of Dentistry and earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Upton went on to complete his orthodontic residency and earned a Master of Science.
He specialized in video imaging, which is used to predict the outcomes of orthodontic and surgical orthodontic treatments. His research was later published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.

Dr. Upton is always pursuing the latest treatment philosophies and technology to continue providing excellent orthodontic care. He’s an active member of the following professional organizations:
- American Association of Orthodontists
- Alabama Dental Association
- Sixth District Dental Society
- Tuscaloosa Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Team
Outside the Office
Dr. Upton and his wife Donna are members of First Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa. They have two daughters, Addison and Amelia.
Dr. Upton and Donna are originally from Collins, Mississippi, a small town north of Hattiesburg.
